A very decorative C19 th Italian walnut open armchair

All surfaces of the front and sides of the chair a profusely carved.
The armrests have a great scroll form to the back attached to the backrest, sloping gradually down then up again to the front curved leaf form at the end.
The rich carving giving a very tactile feeling to the armrests.
On the backrest is carved a reclining maiden amongst swags and flowers. The swags are repeated on the front base of the chair too.
The frame ,has carved griffins side facing with the wings carved Ito the legs of the chair and down to the claw feet.
With a turned stretcher on either side.
A fabulous bit of creativity, this piece totally wins my heart despite its knocks and bumps and is extraordinarily comfortable.
