A very early C19 th carved giltwood Italian centre table

Reference No. : 0755

The top is painted, (now a faded red colour) with a twine detail around the circumference with intermittent gilt wood leaves hanging downward from below the table top.
The column and base of the table shows an exciting scene of movement and drama,
The column of the table is a tree trunk on which is carved more twine and leaves,at the base if the trunk is an eagle entwined with a snake, the eagles wings outstretched with the surprise of the snake. The detail of the carving creates lots of movement in both the snake and eagle. The rounded shapes of the curves are then offset amongst the spikes of the leaves and the stones ground which is far more geometric in design.
An exceptional rare piece.
