An impressiveC17 th Chinese red lacquered cabinet in excellent condition.
All surfaces of the cabinet including the back are ornately decorated.
The panelled doors to the front are carved in a deep relief showing various scenes of animals ,(fox ,hare, birds) and flowers and trees. Other scenes are more architectural with buildings and figures, courtyards and garden features.
The side and back panels are carved into the lacquer work more architectural scenes with plants, figures birds and repeat patterns.
The cabinet comprises of two internal drawers also heavily carved and has an off centre partition. Shelves have been added , but not original to the piece and easily removed if necessary.
Externally ther are another two cupboard openings , one across the whole width of the cabinet at the top , the other to the bottom on the right hand side.
Two opening main doors to the front.
Original brass handles.
The base stands on four square leg feet with spirits carved to the inside legs and a piercs carved frieze along the front skirt of the cabinet.
Excellent detail and quality can be freestanding or against a wall.
